Why not Motown Monday to kick off the week? Motown was an important part of the growing music industry back in the 60′s and 70′s but I don’t hear their music played with any regularity. Motown artists were a strong music presence and I would prefer hearing it here vs. Pandora. Come on 103-if you have Beatles Wednesday, give us Motown Monday! I don’t want it late some weekend night-let’s have it prime time!

It would be wonderful if the programming director would read the comments left here by listeners. Lots of people miss the station you used to be…a real oldies station! More than a few miss the top 20 countdown and the music from the 50s and 60s!!

I agee COMPLETELY and enthusiastically! I really miss the focus on 60s and have recently been searching for an alternative station where the music is more from the earlier decades of rock ‘n roll. The baby boomers- like me!- would appreciate more memories of our
    teenage years.

I loved the rerun of Dick Clark on AT-40 back in 1972. He fit right in doing what he had been doing on Bandstand since the 50s. I hope you will be doing Casey’s 1st show from 1970 when July comes. That was the year I came of age and the songs were great.

I heard a couple of songs on Elvis Only yesterday (4/22/2012) of which I am not familiar. I did not hear the titles. Is it possible to get a program list? Thanks in advanceT

I was listening to your station between 11 and midnight on Monday 4/16/12 and heard “in the air tonight” by Phil collins…. It was longer and had more of a 4 on the floor beat. My husband and I are a big fan of this song and would love any info you have about this version of the song. Thanks

April 5, 2012 9:50 am

Such a great station with all the top hits of the 60′s, 70′s and now the 80′s (the decade I grew up in). Although, I will say it’s a bit daunting to know that 1980′s music is considered “oldies.”

    Steve
    April 8, 2012 10:53 am

Amen! I do not consider songs from the 80s “oldies”, so this I believe is why 103.3 dropped the “Oldies” tag from their name. The only time you’ll hear actual oldies from the 50s/early 60s is during specialty shows like The Wolfman Jack Show and Elvis Only, plus, occasionally Casey Kasem does a flashback song during his AT40/70s show. I hear quite a few songs that WODS used to play on stations like North Shore 104.9 and AM 740 WJIB.

    Tom Mc
    April 30, 2012 3:21 am

In the 80s, the 50s were as old as the 80s are now. And that was as old as you could get back then. We are all getting older. I started with Arnie Woo Woo in the 60s.

March 12, 2012 2:12 pm

Any chance of opening another station on the western part of the state? We NEED a good oldies station out this way. all we can get is WRDC in Hartford and they stink, would rather turn the radio off before listening to them.

Here’s your latest Big Forcast from Captain Carl and Oldies 103.3

Come Sunday , you can expect a Patriot “front” to descend upon the Indianapolis area, as “low pressure” from New york creates a euphoric atmospheric condition within Patriot Nation. Later Sunday evening, “Thunderous” noise is probable from Portland , Maine to Newport, Rhode Island as quick “lighting strikes” from Brady to Gronkowski and Welker, results in Belichick, Kraft & Company “raining” supreme . Looking further into the work week , a “tidal wave” of emotion and support is expected on Tuesday, leading to a emergency declaration by Governor Patrick, calling for the duck boats . The “sun “returns on Wednesday and an extended “high” continues within the area as football champions, we eagerly await the start of opening day and the pursuit of another title at Fenway Park!

Enjoy the game everyone and …GO PATS!

On the oldies insider trivia it asks what was the Author Daniel Defoe book, it was Robinson Crusoe, when clicking on the answer it says wrong.
My sister answered the same question and it said Guliver’s Travels was right.
I lost my 500 points because it is Robinson Crusoe. hoo hoo. I love oldies.

Another week passes…no countdown and no response. Poor business practice!

    Steve
    January 26, 2012 8:14 am

Michele, I Emailed former program director JayBeau Jones about this several times and finally he responded (a few months ago), saying that it was due to low ratings. He said he hated having to do it but it had to be done. WODS is certainly not the same station it was 5 years ago! In the last year of the Countdown they completely stopped doing the 60s and I was not happy about that. I Emailed Patrick Callahan about it more than once and he never responded. I always looked forward to the 1968 shows. All these years later I still miss when Sandy Benson hosted it on Thursday nights, and I miss Mike Finnegan’s Backseat Music too.

      Michele
      January 29, 2012 11:53 pm

Steve, Thank you for letting me know. It is so frustrating, not getting a response. I think it’s a shame that WODS doesn’t air these types of shows anymore and I agree, not playing 60s stinks too. They were an oldies station. The shows that you mention truly made this station unique….now they are just like the rest on the FM dial.
Maybe if more listeners like us voice our opinion, programming might change.

      Thanks again….

January 7, 2012 7:56 am

Shows like the Top 20 Countdown made your station unique….it’s a shame that this type of interesting programming has been discontinued for no apparent reason. Now WODS is just like any other station on the FM dial. Marketing and programming people….please take heed.

December 31, 2011 7:48 am

Looks like the way to solve this is to switch to satellite radio….seems the programming format is for the convenience of the radio station and not the listener’s pleasure….since no answers are ever given in relation to programming questions.

Really wish you’d bring back the top 20 countdown on Saturday mornings. I enjoy the American top 40…but am not often awake at that time to listen. I know there are other listeners who also miss this fun show…..Top 20 this week in 19___

I hope you play “American Top 40 – The ’70s” regular countdown this weekend. This week’s survey is from the week ending December 14th, 1974. I have fond memories of that time growing up. I was a third grader in elementary school, & it was my last school year at this particular school before my family moved away. The songs on that particular countdown survey were some of the best songs in pop music history! Thanks!

December 9, 2011 2:03 pm

Hi guys,

I think when you started this people only wanted to listen sporatically. Now we listen all day and all night!! The music is always great but now you need to reach out for more artist. The Andy Williams every ten minutes is getting kinda lame. Every artist who ever recorded has a Christmas album. Please do your fans a favor and mix in some new artist, especially at night. I’ll bet the Stones did a holiday thing once or maybe The Who, Hendrix or any of the 70′s, 80′s people you play during the year. Everyone in the city will love you more for it. Thank you. Frank

I wanted you to know that I thought your decision to wait until Black Friday to play the Christmas parody and humorous songs was well thought out and worthy of much respect. I willingly admonish that I like those types of songs but I very much liked not hearing them until Black Friday. Although, in my mind the version of Joy To The World by Bob Rivers would have been acceptable before BF. Thanks for the great music.

And I’d love Neil Diamond tickets.

So Excited that Christmas Music Started on 11/11/11. I love Christmas Music! Steve, I know that once Christmas Music began and it has always been the routine that shows such as The Beatle Years, Saturday Night 70′s, Back to the 80′s Friday Night, Beatle Brunch, The Lost 45′s and American Top 40 The 70′s with Casey Kasem all do not air during the Christmas Music Season and return after the Christmas Holiday. So Steve, American Top 40 The 70′s returns on January 1st at Midnight!

    Steve
    November 17, 2011 1:46 pm

That doesn’t mean I have to like it. I never liked that routine, in all the years they’ve been doing it that way. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas just as much as everyone else, but it does not need to run 24/7 except during Christmas week. AT40/70s still airs in other cities during the holiday season and I never get to hear the November and December shows because our local “affiliate” pre-empts it. I work 3rd shift and not a lot of people are tuned in during those hours, I am one of the few who are tuned in. Is there another station in Boston that carries AT40/70s? I know that North Shore 104.9 has Beatle Brunch at 10AM on Sundays.

Hello Paula Street. Nice show today. I’m the fellow in then back woods you said I should try my voice on the mike of Elvis Presley. I did a baritone in his voice of singing mandy to you on the phone in past time. I created another sound on the guitar. It sounds like a sonar sound. With a built in effect system in a gibson guitar, which is patent pending on somebodies design. A full set up like Jimmy created. Not on the floor type, but in side the guitar itself. I modified it a little more to get an orchestra sound in it. To combine old past with new Y,Z. I just present it yesterday with an invent company. Every day at 7:21 instead of the bonus code, I get 7-8 commercials then it’s over and I miss the code. I use my insiders club as I don’t have a radio. What gives…..I’m now on the 8th commercial.

    Steve
    September 6, 2011 7:02 am

They play too many commercials, and it’s always the same thing….credit card debt, diabetes testing supplies, natural male enhancement, dumb Dan and smart Sally for Car Checks, and let’s not forget the very annoying Kimberly Daher and her father Charlie always ringing that bell.

I want to thank you for playing You made me so very happy. I lost my husband eleven years ago and to this day I am having trouble with his loss. This was our song and today is an extremely bad day for me. I asked in my mind to hear our song and there it was. It did help me to hear it. Thank you thank you thank you. I guess it was meant to be at that time to be played.

I used to live in the Boston area in the 1990′s and listened to WODS all the time. And now that I can hear it online, it’s great! I was wondering if there could be a link telling what former DJ’s are doing, such as: Austin of Boston; Michael(?) Flanagan (I loved his “Backseat Saturday Night”); Sandy Benson(?); and there was another DJ who was on in the morning. It would be fun to know about them. I am SO glad that Paula Street is still on the air!!

Thanks for the updates, Steve! I hadn’t even noticed that it’s not called “Oldies 103″ anymore. Oh well, times change I guess. When did they stop “Oldies 103 of a Kind?” (I won a couple of times by submitting my suggestions for the contest.) That’s very sad about Austin. And once you said his name, I now remember Mike Addams, too. I listened online for a while today, but I do miss the older songs. It was great to hear Paula Street’s voice at least.

I have a question. There is a song you play often that has a female singer that starts the song with about a 30 second note (maybe even longer). Some of the words are Dance the night away or Dancing the night away. This is not the Van Halen song, like I said, it is a female singer. No matter how hard I try I can even whistle a single note that long, even with two breaths. Do you know the singer and the name of the song? I have not heard it the past few days but I am not listening 24 hours a day.

    John Pfab
    July 20, 2011 9:44 pm

Dan, there are a number of songs with the title “Dancing The Night Away,” and such…if you hear it again, try to remember more lyrics…maybe the chorus will help out.

      Daniel Gagne

The name of the song is “Dim all the Lights” by Donna Summer

    July 20, 2011 9:55 pm

Oh, there is a song from 1976 from British pop artist Leo Sayer called “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing…http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/l/leo_sayer/you_make_me_feel_like_dancing.html.Try this link and see if this might be the song…it’s the closest guess I can come up with. Write back, okay?

We have made WODS our daily choice at work. We love the 80′s and are super excited about the new 80′s music being played. We are also tired of the same selections daily such as “Who loves you, Brown eyed girl, Baby love….. “. Could you take a look at those daily lineups and change it up a bit. Our boss would be happy not to hear us sing the sames songs everyday.
Thanks a bunch

For what reason did 103.3 WODS discontinue The Beatle Years which had not aired since May and the Top 20 Countdown with Patrick Callahan which also had not aired since May on Saturday Mornings?

    Steve
    July 3, 2011 6:35 pm

I’ve been asking that too, I Emailed both JayBeau and Joe about this and they have not answered. I’ve also asked why they stopped posting the American Top 40: The 70s lists on this website. Getting a response from them is like pulling teeth. When Pete Falconi was program director and I had a question, he’d reply back the next day.

. What happened to Zito??? One minute he was there and the next gone, same with Ralphie. I wasn’t too crazy about Zito, I was listening one day, and I thought that he was a bit abrupt with Karen. I really thought that there was going to be a fight on the air. I felt he was very agressive. Was he let go or did he just move on.
I really liked Ralphie, too bad he’s gone too. Here’s hoping that Clarence joins Karen. I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed.

I just saw the name Tim Callahan, to me that’s a coincidence.I had

or is it who I’m thinking of.

I like Clarence very much. I was so disappointed when Ralphie left but understand why. When he left I knew you or the station would be looking and my feeling is that you need someone who is like your brother – not your father. Ralphie was like your brother and Clarence seems like he would be like your brother. I also like his voice and he seems to fit in well. So I say go for it.

Was Tim Callahan’s Top 40 for the week in the past show gone for a while? I couldn’t find it for a few weeks anyway. Please keep him & the show on WODS. That’s only 1 of the 2 times I regularly listen to WODS (I pop on at other times, but not on a regular time). That and Elvis Only are my favorite programs/shows on the radio!
Please post the schedule. I thought it was online before, but I can’t find it, or anything with Tim Callahan’s name on it. Why?
Please bring back the listing of the show and back programs.
Thanks for the arcade page?
