Record Store Day is just a few weeks away, falling on April 21, 2012.
The unique holiday’s concept was thought of by Chris Brown, and was founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner.
Focusing on the small, “mom & pop” record shops, Record Store Day is a “celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.”
Concord Music Group has announced exclusive releases for the special occasion, including ones by former Beatles frontman Paul McCartney and rock and roll icon Little Richard.
For Paul McCartney, Concord will release a limited edition, vinyl single reissue of Another Day/Oh Woman, Oh Why. This exclusive reissue is featured on Paul McCartney’s upcoming edition of Ram, due out this spring.
As for Little Richard, Concord will reissue the red vinyl edition of Here’s Little Richard - his debut album. The LP will include such classics as “Tutti Frutti,” “Rip It Up,” “Jenny Jenny” and others.
