U.S. music sales saw an overall rise in 2011 for the first time in seven years – they even rose for vinyl records! If you bought any vinyl albums last year, statistics say it might have been the legendary Beatles record Abbey Road. It led overall vinyl sales for the third straight year, beating out several modern pop and rock artists along the way. A common theme in the top-10 vinyl records of 2011 looks to be acoustic music, as many of the top-selling vinyl records come from artists in that style. Is there something about vinyl that just makes classic (or at least classic-sounding) music better?
